Privacy policy
This policy explains how We Are One handles information when you read our magazine, contact us or authorize our social publishing app.

Who to contact
We Are One operates weareonemag.com and the We Are One Publishing app used to manage the magazine’s social accounts. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
Reading the magazine
You can read the website without creating an account. Our hosting and security services process technical request information, such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, referring pages and request times, to deliver the website, prevent abuse and diagnose problems. Server and security logs may contain this information.
Your reading library saves story identifiers in your browser’s local storage. That list stays on your device; it is not synced to a reader account or sent to our server as a saved library. Remove bookmarks or clear this website’s browser data to remove it.
The current website does not include advertising pixels or a third-party audience analytics script. Our delivery and security providers may use cookies or similar mechanisms to protect their services. External social links take you to services with their own privacy policies.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, and the contents and attachments of your message. We use these to respond, manage the conversation and address your request. Please send only information needed for your enquiry.
Our Facebook and Instagram publishing app
We Are One Publishing is an internal tool for the magazine’s authorized account managers. It does not provide Facebook or Instagram login for magazine readers. With an account manager’s authorization, the app accesses account and Page identifiers, names, linked Instagram profile information, granted permissions and access credentials.
We use this information to verify the intended accounts and publish magazine content. We send captions, images, accessibility descriptions and article links to Meta. We read publishing limits, processing status and published content to check the result. Our records include publication identifiers, timestamps and links, which help us recover interrupted operations and prevent duplicate posts.
Access credentials are kept separately from public content and are available only to authorized operators and the publishing tools that need them. Although a messaging permission has been granted during setup, the current publishing integration does not retrieve or send direct messages. Messages you send through Facebook or Instagram remain subject to Meta’s services and may be handled by our team in those services.
Our Threads publishing integration
We Are One Threads is an internal tool for our magazine account. An authorized account manager connects it through Meta. It checks our Threads account identifier, username, granted permissions, token expiration and publishing capacity. It is designed to publish our article posts and follow-up replies, then read them back to check their content and reply relationships. Reply checks may return other replies to our own post; we use them to locate our published reply and do not retain those other replies in our publishing records.
Credentials are stored privately. Our publishing records retain our post identifiers, links, content fingerprints and verification times to prevent duplicates and recover interrupted operations. The tool does not offer Threads login to readers, collect Threads passwords or send direct messages. It does not currently retrieve analytics, even though an insights permission was granted during setup.
Our Pinterest publishing integration
Our internal Pinterest tool manages the magazine’s own business account. It reads our account identity and boards, sends Pin images, titles, descriptions, accessibility text and article links to Pinterest, and reads the resulting Pins to verify them. It currently operates in Pinterest’s Sandbox testing environment; test Pins and boards are visible only to their creator.
We keep authorization credentials separately from public content and retain account, board and Pin identifiers, content fingerprints and verification timestamps to prevent duplicate submissions and recover interrupted operations. Account managers authorize access through Pinterest; our tool does not collect their Pinterest passwords or provide Pinterest login for magazine readers. This integration does not access other users’ boards or Pins, advertising data or messages.
Service providers and sharing
We use DigitalOcean for website hosting, Cloudflare for website delivery and security, Google Workspace for email, and Meta for Facebook, Instagram and Threads publishing. We also use Pinterest for the magazine’s Pin publishing integration. These providers process information needed for their respective services and may process it in countries other than yours. Published social content is intended for public viewing.
We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-site targeted advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate abuse and protect our services.
Retention and security
We retain correspondence as needed to handle enquiries and maintain relevant records. Technical logs support security and troubleshooting. Publishing records support verification and recovery; credentials are retained while the authorized connection is needed. Retention may also be necessary to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
We use encrypted connections, restricted access and separate credential storage. No system can guarantee absolute security. Deleting an active record may not immediately remove copies from backups or from an independent platform’s systems.
Your choices and requests
Contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including objection to or restriction of processing and a right to complain to your data protection authority. We may ask for limited information to verify that a request concerns your own data. We will explain any information we must retain and why.
Account managers can also revoke the app’s access in their Meta account settings, and can ask us to disconnect the Pinterest integration and remove its saved credentials. See our data-deletion instructions for how to request removal of information held by the publishing app. Revoking access does not automatically delete posts already published on a social platform.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our information practices change and revise the date above. Contact us if you have a question about a change or how this policy applies to you.
